Primary Skills:
(A) Infrastructure Support: Primary
Server / hardware installation, operating systems installation, configure hardware and system software, networking, security, etc.
Hardware: Primary
§ Can install servers, network switches & cabling
§ Can assemble racks, servers, components
§ Can troubleshoot, fix, upgrade hardware (e.g., adding memory, hard disks)
§ Can handle Server Consolidations activities
System Software: Primary
§ Knowledge of Microsoft products: Operating systems (Windows 2000, 2003, XP, etc.), IIS, VSS, .Net framework
§ Knowledge of DBMS: MS SQL Server 200x, Oracle (a plus)
§ Can handle VM Ware Infrastructure 3 installations
§ Can deal with Microsoft\'s Premier Support & other parties support
§ Can install upgrades and security patches
§ Can install and upgrade commercial packaged software
Backup / Recovery: Primary
§ Can organize and operate backup and recovery processes, either manual or automated
§ Can prepare scripts to back up databases automatically
§ Knowledge on CA, VERITAS or Microsoft backup system tools
§ Can plan & handle DR implementation
Security: Primary
§ Can manage IT Infrastructure & information security
§ Can set and manage accounts to provide proper access privileges to servers, folders and databases
§ Can configure firewalls
(B) Server Monitoring: Primary
Server monitoring, performance monitoring, analysis of logs, etc.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Primary
§ Have advance knowledge of hardware & system performance monitoring (exposure on HP, CA, Mercury tools)
§ Can monitor the utilization of server resources
§ Can enable and analyze server logs
(C) Communications: Primary
§ Good English-speaking communications. Will have to communicate with US-based corporate environment and third parties
Secondary Skills:
(A) DBA: Secondary
Create schemas, backup and restore, troubleshooting, tuning, etc.
§ DBA skills for SQL Server 200x, Oracle (a plus)
(B) Networking & Connectivity: Secondary
Network Management - LAN & WAN and router support
§ Have adequate Network Management experience - LAN & WAN and router support skills (Cisco)
§ Familiar with communications within and across Internet, Intranet and DMZ
§ Familiar with connections between web, application and database servers in DCOM and .Net frameworks
§ Familiar with remote operations of servers
Nice to have:
(A) Production Support: Nice to have
Configure applications, migrations, troubleshooting, security, etc.
§ Familiar with a professional, orderly change control process (development to test to staging to production)
§ Can perform migrations from migration documents while ensuring proper roll back capabilities are in place
§ Good practices in organizing version control in VSS
